Organizations MUST evolve their team structures, role definitions, and composition models to reflect this shift rather than applying AI tools to unchanged organizational structures.

Reducing junior developer headcount is NOT the recommended response to AI automation. Junior developers are the pipeline for future senior engineers. Organizations MUST maintain junior hiring while evolving what junior developers do -- shifting from routine code writing to learning architecture, review, and AI-augmented development from day one.
Team Size Considerations
AI-assisted development may enable slightly smaller teams to handle the same workload, but organizations MUST resist the temptation to dramatically reduce team sizes:
- The review burden increases with AI-generated code volume -- fewer people means less review capacity
- Bus factor risk increases with smaller teams
- The optimal team size for AI-augmented development is 5-8 members (similar to traditional recommendations)
- If productivity gains are realized, invest them in quality improvement and technical debt reduction rather than headcount reduction
